I’m part of the Purmerend Art Route 2023 – stand 24

The Purmerend Art Route on the weekend of October 7 & 8, with 42 participants and an overview exhibition at the Purmerend Museum, promises to be the cultural highlight of 2023 for Purmerend, Kwadijk, and Zuidoostbeemster.

The Art Route will be festively launched on October 5 with the opening of an overview exhibition at the Purmerend Museum by alderman Pascal Verkroost. Until November 5, the exhibition will feature one artwork from each participant of the 2023 Art Route. During the Art Route weekend (October 7 and 8), entry to the exhibition is free!

You are warmly invited to visit the artists' locations and the overview exhibition at the Purmerend Museum during the weekend of October 7 and 8, between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. I will be there in person to meet you and answer any questions you may have.

I was present at the Purmerend Art Route 2022.

Just like the past 20 years, the first weekend of October in Purmerend is all about the Art Route. On Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 35 local artists from the Purmerend Art Collective will open their studios or guest locations to introduce you to their work. Various disciplines are represented, offering a diverse range—from painting to sculpture, from glass to textiles, and much more. You will be warmly welcomed and can view the art without obligation. Of course, Claudine will be there to personally tell you all about her creative process.

In their exhibitions, the artists reflect on 20 years of the Art Route, which has grown from a foundation that simply organized the route into an Art Collective with a wide range of activities. They do this by showcasing aspects of their own artistic journeys—such as how they started as artists and where they are today.

2022 is also the year of the merger between the municipalities of Purmerend and Beemster. That’s why this year’s guest exhibition features the art project *Ode to the Beemster Woman*, with portraits of 14 women by Utrecht-based visual artist Jeroen Hermkens (route number 13). As part of the merger, special attention is given to the Beemster region.

You can prepare for your visit by walking past 28 shop windows in downtown Purmerend, where you can already get to know the participating artists. The walking route *Art in the Shop Windows* and the free route booklet for the Art Route—featuring all participating artists and exhibition locations—are available at the local tourist office (VVV) and all participating stores. All information about the route can be found on the Art Route's website.

Art Fair 2022 Purmerend

Kunstcollectief Purmerend, 28 mei 2022

During the Art Fair in Purmerend, I was personally present to showcase my art and share the stories behind it.

Purmerend Art Collective:

"Saturday morning, May 28, 10:00 AM. Culture alderman Eveline Tijmstra opens the first edition of the Purmerend Art Fair, the art fair held in celebration of 20 years of the Purmerend Art Route. She highlights the importance of art as a unifying force within the community and, of course, the joy it brings—both in creating and viewing it. Shortly after, the first visitors begin to enter the Markthal while singer Peter Vagevuur performs his easy-listening music. Over the weekend, we welcomed **2,256 people** who came to admire our art. Lively conversations, questions about approaches and techniques—some of which led to the purchase of artworks. Positive feedback from visitors, who were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fair and the art on display. Artists were excited to exhibit together again after years, to see each other’s work, and, of course, to catch up. *“We should do this more often.”* In short, it was a highly successful art fair, made possible by the efforts of several dedicated artists from the Art Collective, whom we would once again like to sincerely thank for all the work they put in."
